The good sushi in Valencia
What are you more of, Komori or Nozomi?
Reaching an agreement between Komori and Nozomi or which is the best sushi in Valencia, can be as complicated as answering: “who do you love more, mom or dad?”. And if you ask a lover of good sushi, he will answer clearly: either he loves Komori or he is team Nozomi 100%. There is no middle ground. Something similar to what happens with Valencia and Levante CF fans.
What is indisputable is that Komori and Nozomi are high quality Japanese restaurants. Exclusive places that bring us a little closer to the Asian country. Thanks to the hands of their chefs, the experience will be a pleasure for the most demanding palates.
So, in order to fuel (or not) this hotly contested debate, I am going to tell you about the two options: Komori and Nozomi.
Komori, el restaurante que abrió sus puertas en octubre de 2012 y hoy, es la meca del sushi en Valencia.
The gastronomic concept proposed by the Kabuki Group is the fusion between Japanese and Mediterranean cultures. In a luxury environment such as the Westin Hotel, its gastronomic proposal is even more special because of the introduction of Japanese culinary techniques. Yes, yes, you read that right.
Komori can be summarized as elegant in its elaborations and in the purity of the raw material. It is a place where you eat well, which is the most important thing. Its new menu is designed with care and attention to detail. If we tell you that its star dish is still “the trilogy” and that it is delicious, do you believe us? The trilogy includes: butterfish, mini kobe and egg with truffle. Of this triple combination, for us, the quail egg with truffle takes the cake. An unequivocal choice if you want to let yourself be carried away by the flavors.
And if that was not enough, Komori also has a terrace located in the hotel’s inner courtyard garden. An ideal choice for these summer nights.
Its exact location? Hotel The Westin, Carrer del General Gil Dolz, s/n, 46010 València, Valencia
It is the turn of the second opponent. Nozomi Sushi Bar recognized by the Michelin Guide, stands as the radical evolution of sushi in Spain.
It is impossible to fail with this restaurant. Exclusive and special, this is how we define Nozomi. It is the Far East in the heart of Ruzafa, perfect for a special occasion or intimate dinners.
Nozomi’s cuisine has a woman’s name: Nuria Morell is the captain of the ship along with José Miguel Herrera. And I’ll be honest, of all her work, I have my favorite dish: the niguiris; they are such a work of art that I could go to the restaurant every day of my life exclusively for them. The Hedonist Guide describes them beautifully: “more is more”. But did you think that was all? Well, get ready for the sea bream usuzukuri. It is a very fine cut with Maldon salt, furikake of dehydrated and ground red shiso that gives it intensity and flavor; and the touch of truffle oil gives it elegance and a delicate flavor. No words, just try it and we’ll talk.
What can I tell you about the decoration? Apart from the fact that it is exquisite and transports you to a relaxed and elegant sphere, there is little more to add. If tasteful architecture enhances your meals, make a note: Nozomi is your next appointment.
Undoubtedly one of the best Japanese restaurants in Valencia. Visit it at: Carrer de Pere III el Gran, 11, 46005 València, Valencia
So… Who do you belong to? I am delighted to hear your rankings and experiences. Hopefully, if you haven’t tried them yet, you’ll love my recommendation. Yes! I advise you to book whenever you can. Advance notice is Komori and Nozomi’s ally. When do you dare to experience their flavors?
